COVID-19 Facilities Protocol

COVID-19 Protocols:

As we all adjust to this new normal, our thoughts are with you and your families and we hope you’re staying safe and healthy. With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic continuing to affect our communities and the country, we wanted to let you know the latest steps SportsPlex West will be taking.

In accordance with governmental orders and guidelines, SportsPlex West is taking extra precautions to help our players, families, and staff stay safe and healthy.

It is the clients responsibility to follow the protocols. WE are all in this together!

Protocols for All Areas (Courts Building and Turf Building):
Masks are available at the front desk of the Turf building upon request and availability.
• All staff and clients will adhere to strict social distancing practices. Stay 6 feet from all other people.
• Please make sure participants take their temperature prior to attending training sessions.
• Stay Home if temp is above 100 degrees.
• If you have a cough/difficulty breathing, please stay home and seek medical care.
• Use hand sanitizer frequently
• Masks are recommended and encouraged for all staff and clients
• Avoid gathering in one area
• Parents may not be in the building (unless authorized by staff)
• Place gear, bags and equipment at least 6 feet apart
• Sportsplex will clean, disinfect and wipe down all used areas consistently with sanitizing materials
• Hand sanitizer will be available for client and employee use, and it is encouraged that everyone to use this on their way in and out of the facilities.
• Seats, countertops, bathrooms and all hard surfaces will be wiped down and/or sprayed multiple times each day.
• Restrooms – One person in one person out
• If you “stay home” for any reason, you can contact your coach and they will send you an “at home” workout and have a brief “clubhouse” meeting with your player
• SportsPlex Courts will follow all suggestions and requirements by the Iowa Department of Health and have discussed and sought clarity for situations specific to SportsPlex with the IDPH
• Discuss with your participant the importance of following these guidelines.

Protocols for SportsPlex Turf Area
Please know that while SPW staff will try to limit sharing of equipment, using the same ball for drills is an integral part of the sport. If your participant does not feel comfortable hitting the same ball or sharing the same equipment, please have the sit out the drill or stay home and request an at home workout. If you choose to participate, to reduce risk please tell your participant to use hand sanitizer frequently, avoid touching your face, and wipe down equipment often.
Enter and Exit facility through your assigned door
• Youth Sticks practice: South door (Go to main turf)
• HS Sticks Training: South door (Go to main turf)
• Baseball/Softball Lessons: East side door (Go to pitching lane/hitting cage)
• D1: Main Entrance – Northeast corner
• Other Activity: (Please make sure know where your activity is being held)
• Main Turf: South Door
• Cages/Pitching Lane: East Door
• Other: Main Entrance
Doors will be propped open when possible
Equipment
• Please distance equipment used from other players/clients
• Balls will be consistently wiped down
• Players may request that balls be wiped down
• Lessons – All baseballs, softballs and soccer balls are either to be touched by the client OR the Staff member to the best of the ability and when applicable.
• Bring hand sanitizer and use often
• Limiting Interaction
• Social distance
• No horseplay
• Be considerate to the space around you especially when entering into other areas of the facility. Stay alert!

Protocols for SportsPlex Courts Area

• Volleyball Practice: Enter West door (main) – Exit South Door
• Volleyball Lessons: Enter North Door (By Bike Path) – Exits North Door (By Bike Path)
• Basketball Practice: Enter West door (main) – Exit South Door
• Basketball Lessons: Enter North Door (By Bike Path) – Exits North Door (By Bike Path)
• Other Activity: Plan with instructor
• Coaches will plan activities at the far end of the building first to avoid large gatherings at the front of the building.
• Do not enter the building if it appears there is no place to stand 6 feet from all people.
• Allow time for others to leave in an organized and safe way.
• Doors will be propped open when possible
Equipment
• Please distance equipment used from other players/clients
• Balls will be consistently wiped down
• Players may request that balls be wiped down
• Lessons – All basketballs and volleyballs are either to be touched by the client OR the Staff member to the best of the ability and when applicable.
• Bring hand sanitizer and use often
• Limiting Interaction
• Social distance
• No parents in the building unless authorized
• No horseplay
• Please pay attention to your surroundings – they change quickly
• Be considerate to the space around you especially when entering into other areas of the facility. Stay alert!!
